The Reborn

Ynnari

"From death comes new life — and from the dead, a new god rises."

The Birth of the Whispering God

The Reborn

For ten thousand years, every Aeldari soul claimed by death has fed Slaanesh — She Who Thirsts, the Chaos God born from the Fall, whose hunger for Aeldari souls is insatiable and eternal. The Craftworlds built spirit stones to capture those souls at the moment of death. The Drukhari fed on the pain of others to keep their souls bright and unappetising. The Harlequins danced in the webway under the protection of the Laughing God. But all these were stopgaps. None were salvation.

"We do not ask whether death can be defeated. We ask only whether it can be made to serve."

The answer came from an unlikely source — a disgraced Harlequin turned Drukhari arena fighter named Yvraine, who died in the arena of Commorragh and was reborn as the Emissary of Ynnead, the slumbering god of the dead. In that moment of death and resurrection, enough Aeldari souls gathered in one place for Ynnead to stir — not fully, not yet, but enough to send an avatar into the world. The Yncarne erupted from the dying, and the Ynnari were born.

The Ynnari believe that if every remaining Aeldari soul could be gathered — if the last of the species were to die in a single moment — Ynnead would wake fully and destroy Slaanesh entirely, freeing all the souls the Dark Prince has consumed since the Fall. It is a plan of breathtaking desperation: the salvation of a species through the willing sacrifice of every last member. Yvraine, the Visarch, and the Yncarne travel the galaxy seeking converts, building a warhost of Reborn who have already died once and been returned by Ynnead's power.

Yvraine
Emissary of the Whispering God
Once a disgraced Harlequin who fell into Commorragh's arenas, Yvraine died in the pit and was reborn as the chosen of Ynnead. She is the voice of the death god, drawing Aeldari from all kindreds to the cause of the Reborn. She wields the Kha-vir, the Sword of Sorrows, alongside devastating psychic powers drawn from all four Aeldari disciplines — Runes of Fate, Phantasmancy, Maleathean powers, and the unique Whispering God lore.

The Visarch
Yvraine's Sworn Blade
The Visarch's true identity is unknown — only that he was once an Incubi Klaivex who died and was returned by Ynnead to serve as Yvraine's personal champion and protector. He speaks rarely and kills efficiently, his devotion to the Emissary absolute. He wields Asu-var, the Sword of Silent Screams — a blade that grows more lethal with every kill, absorbing the screams of the dying into its edge.

The Yncarne
Daemon of the Death God
The physical manifestation of Ynnead's newborn will, the Yncarne erupts from the recently dead wherever enough Aeldari souls have gathered. It is not truly summoned — it simply appears, drawn by death itself. Wielding the Crone Sword Vilith-zhar and devastating psychic powers, the Yncarne grows stronger from every nearby death, and can teleport across the battlefield by dissolving into the souls of the fallen and reforming elsewhere.
