The Old Guard

This is the one. The model that started it all — the first Ultramarine I ever painted, and the first vintage model I hunted down when I came back to the hobby. The 2nd edition Marneus Calgar in his terminator armour, the Gauntlets of Ultramar raised, that unmistakable hunched-forward pose that defined an era of miniature design. Heavy, chunky, and absolutely perfect.

There is something about this model that no modern sculpt has ever quite replicated — a rawness, a character, a sense that the sculptor was trying to capture something larger than the figure itself. It sits at the centre of this collection because it sits at the centre of everything. Without this model, none of the rest of it exists.
